I remember watching The Price about a year ago and thinking it was odd that they trapped those Ferengi in the Delta Quadrant but didn't really think of it again until now. Quark certainly toyed with the idea of travelling to an undeveloped world and ruling it as a god a couple times so this certainly falls in line with what we already know about Ferengi. Also it is good that they are clearly the DS9 version of them rather than the more ratlike and ineffective Ferengi from TNG. Apparently Ethan Phillips was sick the week the shot this episode which explains his relatively restrained performance, which honestly is probably why I found that I actually liked him in this episode.
We open with the crew discovering a wormhole that seems to open on the other side in the alpha quadrant, but it seems to be unstable in this side. As they look around they find a world with a bronze age civilization, and also the signature of a replicator being used. Paris and Chakotay are sent to investigate and after being greeted by the hotel manager from Ghostbusters they find that the profit obsessed society is being run by two Ferengi who have set themselves up as gods. It seems there was a local legend about two prophets coming from the sky and performing miracles and they were happy to fulfill that role. Back on the ship they figure out that these two were the ones trapped in the Delta quadrant when they flew through a wormhole in a TNG episode.
The two "prophets" are beamed up to Voyager where Janeway promises to return them for justice (they have a plan to reopen the wormhole from this side and get home) but the Ferengi point out it would devastate their society to just have them disappear so for some reason Janeway sends them back down. Neelix gets disguised as another Ferengi and sent down as the representative of the Grand Nagus which fools the two for a while, but they decide the only option is to kill him. Neelix gets out and convinces the Ghostbusters guy that he is the final pilgrim from the legend and he along with the two others will ascend to the heavens when three new stars appear in the sky. On queue Voyager makes three lights in the sky at which point the villagers decide to burn the ferengi including Neelix. Just in time Voyager beams them to safety but the ferengi steal their shuttle and accidently get back through the wormhole sealing it behind them of course.
Review: I enjoyed this episode overall despite it being a bit silly. Clearly they were playing it for laughs and it mostly works in that way.
