The only real problem I have in this episode is the way that destroying the time weapon works the first time and pretty much exactly the way literally everyone involved would want. I did overall enjoy the novel use of time travel, or time alteration in this case. I am tired of the same paradoxes and this definitely managed to be more interesting. I also thought it was interesting that Chakotay seemed genuinely interested in using the time weapon to save Voyager. I am tired of starfleet officers being so above board that they can't imagine using something in any way in violation of some rule even if it massively helps them. I know they are supposed to be super perfect, but not at least looking into it would be the same as say, not considering asking Q to send Voyager home in the snap of a finger.
We begin where we left off with Voyager in bad shape and Janeway pushing herself way too hard. Next we see Chakotay in a prison cell being taken out and cleaned up. He is taken to the evil alien leader who tries to make him comfortable. We learn he has been interrogated for months as has Paris who is still in a fighting mood when he is brought in. Chakotay though is willing to talk and seems interested in exchanging information to help undo the damage that has been done to Voyager over the last few months. There is a lot more of Voyager falling apart but since that gets undone I am going to mostly skip it other than to mention Janeway directly violating an order by the Doctor to remove her from command.
On the time weapon Chakotay is working with the bad guy on a plan to save both his people and get Voyager back. Paris meanwhile is working on a plan to destroy the damn thing. After the bad guy genocides another advanced race even Chakotay is down to work on a plan to destroy the weapon and has Paris send a message to Janeway with their location. She has recruited some allies who along with Voyager come in for an attack. At first their weapons are useless but Paris manages to destabilize the time core thing and suddenly weapons work but that still doesn't work since the time weapon is also a weapon weapon. Janeway flies Voyager right into the time core which erases the weapon from history and we cut to Voyager about a year earlier running into the now friendly aliens and the bad guy at home with his wife, working on a time weapon.
Review: This is actually one of the better second half episodes other than the somewhat magical resolution of the problem at the end. It is too bad Janeway doesn't get to keep the scars, they go a long way to showing outwardly her inward descent towards madness.
